The year 2013 is expected to be a year of new trends especially in the area of small business. Aside from the already popular small business accounting software that are being used by companies, there will be more trends in technology that every business owner should know about.

Do take note of these tech trends.

  1. There will be the unification of communication. If before, you needed a computer or a laptop to have access to the web, this has already changed and will continue to change this year. The birth of the smartphone has allowed the user to have a phone and a computer that can access emails and surf online, send and receive SMS, and even make voice calls.
  2. The laptop and desktop will make a good bye. It is revealed by a business report that 36 percent of IT managers of small businesses have reported that their employees gave up their desktops and laptops to have a tablet or smartphone. And by 2014, that number is going to increase even more by another 20 percent.
  3. Businesses will find hiring useful talents tough. Employees that are experts and skillful in their fields will be looking for companies that can pay them good money in exchange for their expertise. Business owners will now need to make their compensation package worthwhile.
  4. Outsourcing will even become more popular. In the next five years, it is expected that the 17 million independent workers will be rising to 23 million. This group is composed of contractors, consultants, solo-preneurs, and freelancers. Therefore, businesses will not find it hard to hire workers only for a period of time that they need them.
  5. Social media will go beyond just Facebook and Twitter. There will be the upward movement of Pinterest and Tumbler. These two will rise and will be used by a lot of business owners.
  6. The cloud will grow more popular. And so will other accounting on line software. Therefore, as business owner, you need to know the ins and outs of using such software for online bookkeeping.
Trends are trends. However, it is also expected that business owners will follow them or keep up with them because the competition is tough and you don’t want to be lagged behind.
