With the continued and consistent advancements of technology today, more and more services can be found over the internet, allowing individuals to have comfort and convenience. For example, the existence of online accounting programs are already making small business operations faster and more accurate.

According to a survey, more and more Australians are getting hooked to such online services. Whether they are shopping or looking for online work, the internet has the answer for them.

Moreover, it was found out by a survey conducted by Roy Morgan Research that 90 percent of Australians are already utilizing the internet to shop or buy items.

“Our survey indicates that online shopping in Australia is going strong and most Australians have and will continue to purchase online in 2012. Online shopper’s loyalty is largely driven by convenience, variety and pricing. But, get one thing wrong and you could quickly lose them to your competitors,” says Mark Randall, Country Manager of Rackspace Australia and New Zealand.

What is seen as the best features about this online transaction are convenience, variety, and price. This is evidenced in the 83.2 percent of people shopping online for convenience, 71.1 percent for price, and 47.4 percent for variety.

It is estimated that about $12 billion worth of sales will be reached through online retail sales in Australia for the year up to September alone.

Also, individuals in Australia are already interacting with the government through online means.

“Five years ago, when the Government commenced researching the different ways Australians interacted with government, contact was overwhelmingly in person,” says Lindsay Tanner, Minister for Finance and Deregulation.

She added that such a move of Australians to use online in interacting with government must inspire the government to cope with the technological changes of today.
